About us

Pedder Schuh Lawyers was established by John Pedder and Sheryl-lee Schuh in 2011. After looking after Launceston clients for many years, John and Sheryl-lee decided to combine their knowledge to provide expert services in the area of Personal Injury Law. They can however, also assist you in a range of other areas including Building Disputes, Employment Law, Anti-Discrimination matters and Criminal matters.

The team at Pedder Schuh Lawyers are an accessible and friendly firm. They are committed to providing high quality and personal legal services in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost.


John Pedder

John is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of Tasmania. His career began in the Royal Australian Navy where he then went on to hold several key positions with a state owned insurer. He has also worked as a legal practitioner with several local law firms.

Outside of the office John enjoys listening to music, learning classical guitar and surfing at the local beaches in Tasmania.

Career highlights

John’s career highlights include:

  • A member of the decommissioning crew of HMAS VAMPIRE
  • A crew member of HMAS DERWENT during it 25th Birthday celebrations
  • Appointed by the Minister as part of a Legislative Review Team to review to Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973
  • Being involved in the drafting of amendments to the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973 and  Regulations.  Involvement included preparing briefing notes and papers for submission to Cabinet.
  • Acting for the Accused charged with Attempted Murder of her mother and assisting the Suicide of her father.
  • Generally assisting clients with their problems and achieving a good outcome for them.

Sheryl-lee Schuh

Sheryl-Lee is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland, the Supreme Court of Tasmania and in the High Court. She began her career in Crown Law Queensland and then worked as a Legal Officer in several Queensland Government Departments before moving to Tasmania in 2002. Locally she has worked as an Electorate Advisor to two Tasmanian Senators and as a Legal Practitioner in two prominent law firms.

Outside of the office Sheryl-Lee is passionate about yoga and enjoys bushwalking, German language and art house films.

Sheryl-Lee has a keen interest in all legal areas, but specialises in the following:

  • Employment law
  • Personal injury law including motor vehicle accidents, medical negligence, slip and fall
  • Workers compensation
  • Fatal Accidents Act claims
  • Anti-Discrimination

Career highlights

Sheryl-Lee’s career highlights include:

  • Being part of the team involved in a complete rewrite of Queensland legislation relating to real estate agents, auctioneers and motor dealers
  • Responsible for amendments to numerous pieces of consumer legislation in Queensland
  • Part of the successful defence team acting for the accused in relation to bribery and corruption charges
  • Successfully obtaining compensation for a client fraudulently deprived of title to his land
  • Achieving positive outcomes for clients in numerous personal injury, workers compensation and unfair dismissal claims.
